  • There were eight lord proprietors who ruled over South Carolina.
  • They ruled as the government instead of the king
  • There are rivers in charleston named after ine of the lord proprietors in soufh carolina

  • Later on the colonist voted them to be a royal colony and the lord proprietors lost thier Power
