Heat flows from a hot object to a cold object.

There are three ways by which heat is transferred. Conduction, where energy is transferred through contact. Convection, where energy is transferred by liquids and gases. Radiation, where energy flows by itself even through empty space.

When heat is transferred between two objects, the temperature of each object changes, but when the temperature is the same the heat transfer stops.

A conductor transfers heat well. Most metals are good conductors.

An insulator prevents the transfer of heat.
Materials that trap air, such as fluffy fabrics, are good insulators.
