Differences between slaves and indentured servants

Slaves

• Property
• Worked because they were forced
• Didn't get much benefit if any

Indentured Servants

• Weren't considered property
• Worked for their freedom
• Most were young boys that were looking for a better life

Indentured Servants were servants that served for a number of years to hopefully gain your freedom.

Slaves were property that could be bought and sold. Slaves would have to do harder work than Indentured Servants.
