ABOUT THE RED PANDA

  • Habitat: China- in the Eastern Himalayas (bamboo populated areas)
  • Diet: berries, bark, bamboo, mushrooms

WHY IS THE POPULATION CHANGING?

  • HABITAT LOSS! plants and natural resources taken from area
  • Cashcropping
  • Firewood and timber
  • Poaching
  • Medicinal plants

WHAT DO THEY DO?

  • The red panda controls the flow of three major rivers in China
  • Without these natural regulations, the rivers will be all out of wack
  • These rivers provide over 1/2 the water supply in China
  • What will happen to Chinas water supply when they are gone?

WHAT WILL HAPPEN?

  • Our prediction?
  • The rivers of China will be effected -
  • China will loose 1/2 of its water supply
  • …or…
  • China will have major flood issues.
