Polar molecules can dissolve in water. Items such as batteries cannot dissolve in water.

Water can dissolve many things because it's a polar molecules and is able to break up substances into smaller pieces.

Water is polar so it's attracted to itself. Cohesion is the attractive force between water molecules. Therefore, the molecules like sticking together.

Water is polar which makes it attracted to other substances. Adhesion occurs when other water molecules are attracted to one another.
