DESCRIPTION
Beets grow in the soil as a root. Its the taproot portion of the beet plant.
Beets are native to the Mediterranean.
The best time to get beets when they're in season is during November.
The sugar beet belongs to the Chenopodiaceae family.

PREPARING
You will want firm beets, older ones get spongy.
The first step would be to cut the leaves off an inch above the beet.
Boil them in water for about 15-30min and then rinse them
Peel off the skin after boiling and cut off the leaf stems and slice them up.
Add seasoning and butter to finish off. You can also serve the leaves.
