  • A branch of the apache languages
  • Spoken by 120,000 people
  • Also known as "Diné Bizaad"
  • first appeared in writing in 1849 in the form of a Navajo word list

  • The almighty is not necessarily a thing but a force

  • Nearly 150,000 navajo's speak their native language
  • Some navajo's still live in traditional mud huts
  • Much of navajo life style has been modernized
  • But also many traditions have been kept the same
  • Navajo people depended upon farming

  • Hard to grow other crops because of terrain
  • The navajo dislike pork
