  • When they move toward the equator, they shirt westward
  • Like winds, ocean currents move in circular patterns

PHYSICAL FEATURES

  • The largest island in French Polynesia but its only 402 s/m in area
  • Its 1/3 of the tiny state of Rhode Island
  • The two parts of Tahiti are joined together by narrow isthmus
  • Tahiti Nui and Tahiti Iti , both were once volcanoes

CLIMATE

  • The wet season lasts from November to April
  • Gets 3/4 of its annual rainfall
  • The dry season lasts from May to October, is slightly cool
  • Known for its breadfruit
