Helen Keller was born in Tuscumbia Alabama in the year 1880
The Keller family was not rich, nor poor. They earned there money from the cotton plantation they owned.
When Helen was 1 1/2 years old she was diagonsed, with scarlet fever, which was an un-curable disease. This disease had some major effects on Helen including they mad her Mute, deaf, and blind.
In 1880 Helen Keller went to Perkins institute for the blind where she met Anne Sullivan, and became Helens full time teacher. Her parents tried to teach her simple skills like communication but it was almost impossible to because of her disabilities, but Anne Sullivan taught her over time how to communicate and she started making connections.
In 1894 Anne Sullivan took her to New York to the school Wright Humasen for the deaf.
She learned how to read people's words with her fingers through vibrations as they spoke.
At the age of 24 Helen Keller became the first deaf/blind person to graduate from college
Helen Keller Became a very strong successful women with the help of Anne Sullivan, Helen wanted to make a difference for the children who had disabilities.
Helen Keller was a woman who would speak out against women's rights and all type's of war.
Anne and Helen traveled to 39 countries to speak about these idea's.
