TIME PERIOD:

  • Queen Hatshepsut reigned over Egypt for more than 20 years.
  • Hatshepsut came to the throne of Egypt in 1478 BC.
  • Hatshepsut reigned from 1479-1458 BC in the 18th dynasty.
  • Hatshepsut even dressed as a man!

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

  • In 1473 B.C. Hatshepsut decided she had had enough of ruling on behalf of her child.
  • Hatshepsut then declared herself as pharaoh.
  • She also began rebuilding Egypt's trade networks distributed by the Hyksos.
  • The purpose of the trip was trade and evidence indicates that Queen Hatshepsut managed to bring back numerous precious and rare articles.
  • The articles were back to enhance the wealth of the Egyptian nation.

Hatshepsut benefited Egypt because she extended Egyptian trade and oversaw ambitious building projects, most notably the Temple of Deir el-Bahri, located in western Thebes, where she would be buried.
