Garajonay National Park

  • A national park located on the island La Gomera
  • Declared a national park in 1981
  • World Heritage site in 1986
  • It is a WHS because it is the only laurisilva in the Canarian Island archipelago.
  • A laurisilva is a humid, subtropical forest

Tower of Hercules

  • An Ancient Roman lighthouse
  • 55 meters tall; World Heritage site in June 2009
  • Overlooks the North Atlantic coast of Spain
  • Located in Coruña, Galicia
  • It is a WHS because it is the only fully preserved Roman lighthouse.

Poblet Monastery

  • A Cistercian monastery
  • Founded in1151; World Heritage site as of 1991
  • Located near the Padres Mountains in Catalonia
  • Founded by French Cistercian monks, later used as a palace and military complex
  • It is a WHS for its beautiful architecture and its many uses across history

Walled Town of Cuenca

  • A medieval city built on a limestone ridge
  • Located in the town of Cuenca
  • Home of spains first golthic cathedral
  • World Heritage site in 1996
  • It is a WHS for its good example of a medieval city as well as its religious imprortance.

Toledo

  • Capital city of the Visigothic Kingdom
  • Judiasm, Christianity, and Islam have all affected area
  • Improtant artistic center in central Spain, south of Madrid
  • World Heritage site in 1986
  • It is a WHS because of its religious and artistic importance.
