What type of pathogen is it? Influenza is a viral infection that attacks the respiratory system, throat, lungs, and nose. (Not to be confused with the common stomach flu that causes diarrhea and vomiting)
Where and when have there been outbreaks? The last OUTBREAK of avian influenza was on December 28, 2014 in Guanzaugh city, Guangdong province China but like I said, influenza is a globally reoccurring epidemic.
FUN FACT PART II!!! Influenza was discovered not by a direct study of the disease in humans, but rather from studies on animal diseases. In 1918, J.S. Koen, a veterinarian, observed a disease in pigs which was believed to be the same disease as the now famous Spanish influenza pandemic of 1918.
