Summery
Lucinda helps slaves flee to Canada because in Canada slavery is illegal and one of those slaves is Cass. Cass had a baby and when she had the baby she died so Lucy is trying to take the baby to Canada so she won't grow up as a slave.

Problem
Cass is owned by her master so if she has the baby the baby becomes the masters property so Lucy is trying to prevent that from happening.
