Geothermal energy is the heat from the earth. History of geothermal energy: humans started using it in the 1980's.

ADVANTAGES

  • Almost entirely emission free
  • Zero carbon
  • No fuel ( no mining or transportation )
  • Not subject to the same fluctuations such as solar or wind
  • Could be build under ground

DISADVANTAGES

  • If it realeses a greenhouse gas it will set of a global warning
  • Water usage
  • High construction costs
  • Drilling into heated rock is very difficult
  • Minimum temperature of 350 ft generally required
  • Care must be taken to manage heat and not overuse it .

The cost of geothermal energy Is $88 per megawatt-hour.
