  • Tried to convince people to stay away from alcohol.
  • In 1908 22 countries did not drink alcohol.
  • Governor Ben Tillman was against prohibition.
  • Tillman established a Dispensary that limited alcohol sales

  • In 1915 a state wide prohibitation was enacted.
  • In1918 Congress passed the18th ammendment that prohibited alcohol
  • South Carolina ended their prohibition in 1935
