OUR MISSION AND HISTORY

  • People want to know what is being put into their food
  • 90% of Americans and a high majority of Californians
  • want meaningful labels that clearly identify GE foods
  • proposition 37, to make companies put their GMO
  • information on the labels but it failed.

Our Reasons

  • GMOs contain foreign genes for which the harmful side effects are unknown
  • Nutrition Labeling and Education Act of 1990 required ingredient labeling of food
  • why do Monsanto and the corporate food industry put millions of dollars behind fighting this label?
  • Animal studies have shown that GMOs cause sterility within three generations
  • Recent rat studies show enormous tumors on rats fed with GMO

ENVIRONMENTAL RISKS

  • potential to cause a variety of health problems and environmental impacts.
  • For instance, they may produce new allergens and toxins
  • spread harmful traits to weeds and non-GE crops, or harm animals that consume them.

HEALTH RISKS

  • new allergies, allergic reactions
  • liver problems
  • reproductive problems
  • infant mortality
  • bt crops: stenlity, disease, death

OTHER RISKS

  • increase in herbicide use and an epidemic of herbicide-resistant "superweeds,"
  • which will lead to even more herbicide use and cost can also be a factor in mor herbicide use

SCIENTISTS ARE WRONG!

  • harm to monarch butterflies: pollen on milkweed.
  • Allergenicity: life threatening allergies in U.S. and Europe.
