THE HISTORY OF ROME

  • 753 BC the city of Rome was founded.
  • The god of war Romulus and Remus founded the city.
  • Romulus became ruler of Rome.
  • Rome was ruled by Romulus for the next 240 years.

HOW ROME BECOMES AN INDEPENDENT COUNTRY

  • 509 BC - Rome becomes a republic.
  • The last king that was overthrown
  • Was called a senator.

ROMES DICTATORS

  • 45 BC Julius Caesar becomes
  • The first dictator of Rome.
  • By 44 BC Julius Caesar was
  • Killed by Marcus Brutus

THE ROMAN EMPIRE BEGINS

  • 27 BC begins Caesar Augustus
  • becomes first Roman Empire.

BUILDING ROME

  • 80 AD - The Colosseum is built.
  • This building can seat 50,000
  • people.

THE HADRIAN WALL BUILT

  • This wall was designed to keep
  • out barbarians.
  • The long wall is built across northern
  • England.

CONTANTINES RAIN

  • By 306 AD Constantine becomes
  • emperor.
  • Constantine wanted to make Rome
  • a Christian Empire.

DECALRING CHRISTIANITY A RELIOGION

  • In 380 AD Theodosius I
  • declares Christianity a sole
  • Religion.

BECOMING TWO EMPIRES

  • 395 AD - Rome splits into two empires.

ROMES FIRST ENEMY

  • 410 AD - The Visigoths sack Rome.
  • First time Rome has encountered
  • An enemy.

END OF ROMES WESTERN EMPIRE

  • 476 AD -was the end of the
  • western Rome empire
  • And the fall of Ancient Rome.

BYZANTINE EMPIRE

  • 1463 AD the Byzantine empire
  • Becomes the Ottoman Empire.
