BOOBY TRAPS PROBLEM:
Booby traps were set up by the Viet Cong, targeting the American soldiers. The booby traps were as deep as 3 meters and had bamboo that was sharpened at the bottom so that when the soldiers fell in, they would get severely injured. 11% of deaths and 15% of wounds during the war were caused by these booby traps.

BOOBY TRAPS SOLUTION:
These booby traps are a big problem. The U.S. could solve this problem by having a set of soldiers going around in front of everyone else scanning the forest floor to see if anything is suspicious. Once they find one, then they can flag it with something so that others will know that it is there.

VC's UNDERGROUND TUNNELS PROBLEM:
Underground tunnels were basically underground homes for the Viet Cong soldiers at war. They built these tunnels to give themselves advantages. In these tunnels, there were about 9 sections. There were firing posts, airtight trap doors, first aid post, Punji stake trap, reinforced sleeping chamber, blast deflection wall, a well, meeting room, and a storage cache for weapons and food.

VC's UNDERGROUND TUNNEL SOLUTION:
This is another serious problem for the U.S. soldiers. We could solve this problem by (slightly) bombing the area where they think is most suspicious and likely to be where the tunnels are so that, that will uncover most of the tunnel space.

VC's CODE TAPPING PROBLEM:
During the Vietnam war, the VC communicated by code tapping. This is when they would tap on the trees they were hiding in to signal when the American soldiers were close. When they did get close, the VC would attack.

VC's CODE TAPPING SOLUTION:
This is also a big problem for the U.S. soldiers. We can solve this problem by having people learn their codes and listen very carefully when the codes were used so that they will know what the codes mean and take cover.

AMBUSHING PROBLEM:
This ambushing problem was killing 20% of our men in combat. Ambushing was when the VC would stay hidden all up until the American soldiers were within close shooting range. Once there, they would open fire.

VC's AMBUSHING SOLULTION:
Because ambushing killed 20% of the American soldiers, this is a big problem. We can solve this by putting manikins to throw the VC off track to fire at that but once they come out the americans could quickly rapid fire back at the VC.
