Frederick Douglass was a great abolitionist because instead of risking his life and others by starting a rebellion, he used his keen intelligence to show others the horrors of slavery. He advised politicians with his political power. He even covered others, like foreign immigrants and female rights.

HIS CAREER STARTED FROM SLAVERY

  • Born a slave in Talbot County,MD he escaped in 1838
  • After that he attended abolitionist meetings
  • After he wrote a book about his times in slavery, he escaped to Ireland

HE MADE A NEW FORM OF ABOLITIONISM

  • He used his freedom and political power to write books about slavery
  • He also gave speeches encouraging other slaves to escape
  • He became a somewhat leading spokesperson in the movement

HE WAS EXTREMELY VERSATILE

  • He was very outspoken, to where he published many newspapers
  • He also served as an advisor for president Abraham Lincoln
  • He even considered other people like the foreign and women's rights

All and all Frederick Douglass was known for his intellect, his versatility, and his great contributions to a much needed cause. He will always be known as one of the greatest abolitionists of all time
