The US won in the battle of Okinawa.
It was one of the bloodiest battles of WW2.
Atomic bomb was helpful during this battle.
Code name was operation Iceberg.

Weapons: Atomic Bomb, hand grenades, tanks, flamethrower, etc.

THE BATTLE WOULD HAVE BEEN FOUGHT DIFFERENTLY
If the atomic bomb hadn't been used, the US would have lost many more troops and the Typhoon that hit Japan a few months later would have damaged military supplies probably causing US to lose the battle.

About 65,000 Japanese troops on the island.
Okinawa is the largest of the Ryukyus islands at the southern tip of Japan.
The Americans also lost 36 ships. The Japanese lost 16 ships.
