CARBOHYDRATE
A carbohydrate is an organic compound composed of hydrogen, carbon, and oxygen.
It is divided into monomers called monosaccharides, which can then join to make disaccharides.
Disaccharides can then join with other disaccharides to make polysaccharides.
The body uses carbohydrates for energy and structural support.

LIPID
Lipids are large, non polar organic molecules.
A monomer of a lipid is called a triglyceride.
A triglyceride is composed of glycerol and three fatty acid chains.
Lipids are composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen.
Lipids serve as the cuticles on plants, pigments, and steroids.

PROTEIN
Proteins are large polymers that are composed of one or more amino acid chains.
Amino acids are the made up of 2 functional groups called a carboxyl group and an amino group.
Proteins act as enzymes that help to control metabolic reactions and control functions in cells.
A protein is composed of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and hydrogen.

Nucleic Acid
Nucleic acids are polymeric macromolecules.
Nucleic acids have monomers called nucleotides.
Nucleic acids carry the genetic material in the body and are essential for life.
Nucleic acids are composed of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, and phosphorus.
