• 1880 ford worked as engineer with a lighting company
• 1896 perfected 1st of lightweight gas powered car
• 1903 started his own automobile company
• 1908 sold 30,000 cars called model "T"

• 1908-1927 15 million cars produced
• Plant on river rouge helped (vertical consolidation)
