PLOT SUMMARY

Plot

  • Crusoe prepares to sail back to Guinea
  • The first captain has died
  • He leaves money with the widow

Plot

  • On his way, Crusoe's ship is captured by Turkish Pirates
  • He is taken as the pirate ship's prisoner to Sallee
  • “Just a taste of the misery I was to go through" ~Robinson

Plot

  • Robinson stayed as a slave for two years
  • Finally, he plans escape on a fishing trip with Ismael and Xury
  • He tricks Ismael into packing many supplies

Plot

  • Robinson convinces Ismael to take them farther out into the sea
  • Crusoe pushes Ismael overboard and threatens to kill him if he does not swim to shore

  • Robinson makes Xury swear his fealty
  • Out of fear of being caught, Crusoe and Xury sail southward for 6 days

  • The two anchor for the night
  • Neither sleep because of strange noises in the night

  • It is a Portuguese ship and the captain takes them aboard and agrees to take them to Brazil for free
