This deck is about Biomedical Engineering, what they do, how they do it, and how they work. Enjoy!

PRESENTATION OUTLINE

What do they do?
Use engineering, medics,
physics, and biology
to solve problems in
the medical field.

What is this job like?
Generally Biomedical
Engineers work regular
hours, either in a lab or
sometimes a clinical setting.

How can you become a biomedical engineer? A Bachelors degree is basic, but more jobs may open up with a higher degree.

What are some current biomedical issues? A prominent issue is the human body. We have our design flaws, and biomedical engineers are working to fix that.

What is an issue with the human body? 1 issue is the way the knee works.

The knee uses 2 bones that come together in some cartilage and can bend, with only 1 knee cap for support. This can cause problems because the tissue can get worn down.

How are biomedical engineers solving this? biomedical engineers are thinking of replacements for knee caps and bones

Such as? Some say a ball and socket knee joint could completely replace that part of the human body and eliminate knee pain, while others say metal knee caps should suffice.

I believe the ball and socket joint is a great idea because of the sturdiness of that kind of connection, but only if we are able to lubricate the joint.
