PACIFIC INTRO

  • These stats are all of the pacific coast
  • Idaho is where many potatoes are grown
  • Wagon trains brought settlers to Oregon

HAWAII INTRO

  • Hawaii is the only state that is disconnected from the continent
  • It contains 132 islands
  • It is located in the Pacific Ocean
  • Polynesians are native to Hawaii

  • Wagon trains brought settlers to the west
  • Each train had four people and three oxen
  • The food was with little variety due to the conditions

RAILROADS

  • Railroads were a prominent transportation method in the west
  • They were first built after the first settlers arrived
  • They brought in many Chinese laborers

FRUITS & NUTS

  • Washington and Oregon are the homes to many fruits and nuts
  • Half of the pears in the U.S. come from the pacific northwest
  • Those fruits include berries, cherries, strawberries, plums, and nuts; walnuts and filberts

  • Aplets are apples and walnuts
  • Cotlets are apricots and walnuts

  • It is where a lot of sugar comes from
  • It is grown in thick stalks that can be gnawed on for flavor

POG

  • POG stands for Pineapple Orange Guava
  • POG comes from the caps of fruit drinks
  • Those drinks are commonly sold as frozen smoothies

  • A luau is a feast
  • It is focused around a young pig that has been covered in leaves
  • That pig is then roasted and buried
  • The meal is alongside singing and dancing
