What is the point of the moon's orbit when it's closest to Earth called?
Perigee.

The Captured theory of the origin of the moon seems most logical to me because an asteroid the size of the moon being pulled into our orbit makes the most sense.

How does the motion of the moon in its orbit affect your view of the moon from Earth?
The moon rotates at the same speed it orbits around Earth, so we always see the same side of the moon.

What causes the phases of the moon?
Sunlight shining on the moon causes the phases.

When is the moon considered to be waning?
When the size of the portion we can see of the moon decreases.

When is the moon considered to be waxing?
When the portion of the moon that we can see increases.

Lunar Eclipse- When the moon passes directly behind Earth and into its shadows.
Solar Eclipse- When the moon goes in front of the sun and blocks out the light.

The moon's gravity pulls at the earth when the sun, moon, and earth are in line to cause spring tides. Neap tides occur when the sun and moon are perpendicular to earth.
