Taylor had a rough start to her career. She'd play her guitar and sing in open mic nights, on the corner of hotels, and still couldn't get discovered until she was playing at an open mic night and got noticed by someone from Big Machine Records. From there she had a test session in the studio and went to release her first self written album in 2006 after she got signed with the label.
Taylor has done alot to help the lives of others like her family and fans which is why she was named the most charitable celebrity of 2014. Some examples of things she has done are donate $100,000 to The Red Cross to help flood victims in Iowa in 2008, she also recently gave a fan $1989 to help pay off her student loans.
