PRESENTATION OUTLINE
1.
PRESSURE AND FLUIDS
Fluid pressure depends on depth.
Greater the depth, the greater the pressure.
Liquids or gases that take up space in a container.
Fluids flow from high pressure to low pressure areas.
Pressure=force/area

2.
DENSITY AND BUOYANCY
Density is the rate of mass to volume in a given substance
Density=mass/velocity
Sinking: an object will sink if it is more dense than the fluid it is in OR if it has greater weight than the buoyant force.
Floating: an object will float if it is less dense than the fluid it is in OR is equal to the buoyant force.

3.
ARCHIMEDES PRINCIPLE
Displace: to take the place of.
Principle: buoyant force on an object in a fluid is a upward force equal to the weight of the fluid it displaces.
