Background Info
It is called the Republic of Panama. It was inhabitated in the sixteenth century by Spanish. The official language is Spanish. The capital is Panama City. It is an isthmus that connects North and South America. It is actually in North America. It is bordered by Columbia and Costa Rica. Their are two bodies of water by it. They are North Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea. The population is 3.864 million people. 70% are mestizo(Native American and European) or mulatoo(African American andEuropean).
10% European,6% Native American and 14% Native American and West Indian

Info
The major religions are Roman Catholic and they have 75% to 85% followers. They also have Evangelical Christian with 15% to 25% of the population follow them.Finally they have Guaymi with 10% followers. Some of the other languages are Arbic,English,and Japanese.The flag is four different squares. Two of the are solid colors one is red and one is blue and the other two are white with a red star on one and a blue star on the other.

Education
In Panama children only attended school from kindergarten to ninety grade. Panama has the sixth highest literacy rate in Latin America. They have a 92.6% literacy rate. If you are not educated in Panama you make about 1 to 2 dollars per hour.

Health
In Panama women live to be about 77 years old and men live to be about 74 years old. Panama has a 18.61% birth rate. They have a 11.1% infant mortality rate. The infection rate is 1 to every 14 people. Some of the infections are Hepatitis A, Hepatitis E, Typhoid Fever, Malaria, Yellow Fever, Dengue Fever, Japanese Encephalitis, and African Trypanosomiasis.

Government
Panama has a Constitutional Republic. They have distinct branches called the Judicial Powers, Executive, and Legislative. They are very strict on using the constitution to govern. They have a Head of State and representatives to represent the people. The current leader is Juan Carlos Varela. His tittle is president and he was elected. Panama's legislative body is called The National Assembly and The Judiciary. The domestic issues that might influence Panama's foreign policy is increase in foreign markets and foreign trade.

Economy
GDP mean Gross Domestic Products. Panama's GDP is 42.65 billion. Panama's growth rate is 8.5 %. Panama's major exports are bananas,shrimp,sugar,coffee , clothing. Their major imports are fuel products,medicines, vehicles, iron and steel rods and cellular phones. A trading partner is an agreement between 2 parties. Panama's major trading partners are the US,Sweeden,Coasta Rica, Netherlands,Canada,Mexico, and China. Panama's economic conditions are they are having strong economic growth by intiating the Panama Canals. They started expanding in 2007 . It should be completed by 2014. It will cost about 5.3 billion.

Environment
Panama's climate is Tropical Maritime. It has a hot humid prolong rain season which is from May to January. They also have a dry season which is from January to May. Panama has environmental problems. The main ones are soil is becoming depleted, destroying of habitats, and deforestation. About 5.4 million acres have been cut down for ranching and farming. Panama's natural resources are copper, shrimp and mahogany. Mahogany is a type of wood that only grows from Mexico to Amazonia, Brazil. It is a reddish-brown color.

History
Panama was subjected to colonial rule by France. Panama became independent on November 28,1821. Panama colonized Scotland for 21 years, from 1699 to 1720. In 1519 Panama was founded. 1671 Pirate Henry Morgan captures Panama.1821 Panama becomes independent .1900 The United States and The United Kingdom sign a treaty with Panama for the canal. 1999 Panama 's first female president .

Technology
Technology has impacted Panama by transforming sectors from healthcare to farming. Technology has created more jobs and emerging markets. Its comprehensive digital boost could benefit a half million people out of poverty the next decade.
