ECONOMY:

Unemployment rate: 10.3%
Population below poverty line: 23%
External debt: $5.278 billion (31 December 2013 est.)

The government's efforts have done little to reduce high youth unemployment rates or to address housing shortages.

PROBLEMS:

Men subjected to forced labor and sex trafficking; criminal networks, which sometimes extend to sub-Saharan Africa and to Europe, are involved in both human smuggling and trafficking.
The government has not held any perpetrators of sex trafficking or forced labor accountable with jail time; some trafficking victims are treated as illegal migrants and are subject to arrest, detention, and deportation because authorities continue to confuse human trafficking and smuggling.

AID:

$13.4 million per year
Who is the biggest donor? US
$4 million on security assistance, > $0.5 million on other.
I believe that the aid to this country is unsuccessful because in recent years we have attempted to decrease the amount of aid we are giving and the country is still asking for an increase in aid. The US should decrease their aid in order to help the Algerians grow their own economy, because their economy is currently at a stand still caused by foreign aid.

COMPARISON:
Unlike in Rwanda and Sudan, Algeria is not experiencing and sort of genocide, to put it simply, Algeria is struggling to develop their own strong economy as well and ethics (relating to the smuggling and trafficking of illegal sorts)

SOLUTION:
I believe that in order to assist Algeria, the US needs to withdrawal it's financial aid and physically enter the country to assist the Algerians government with the sex trafficking as well as the smuggling of illegal substances.
