  • The poncho is a simple, but very useful article of clothing
  • indigenous people of Mexico use the poncho in their daily lives.

The two main types

OF MEXICAN PONCHOS

SERAPE PONCHO

  • a long blanket-like shawl
  • brightly colored and fringed at the ends
  • some with matching hoods for head covering
  • The length varies but normally reach knees

Falsa Poncho

  • usually long and narrow
  • colored in the same color family
  • encorproates diamonds into design

the poncho today

  • indiginous people still wear them
  • iconic to the folk Mexican culture
