RISE
After getting his doctorate he aligned himself with the then President Estimé and was appointed director of national health.

ELECTION
Duvalier campaigned as a populist,who worked as a voice for the Afro-Haitian majority describing his mulatto opponent as oppressing enemy. His other opponent was conveniently forced into exile.

CONSOLIDATION
Duvalier began to change his leadership and remove any opponents to his regime through death or exile and then made himself president for life
