INTERESTING FACTS

- There are anywhere 35-67 parables in the Bible.
- About 1/3rd of Jesus's teachings are parables.
- Luke has 18 parables not found anywhere else.

WHY?

DID HE USE THEM SO MUCH?

BECAUSE STORIES ROCK!

IT'S WHAT WE DO.

MEMORABLE.

AND ENGAGING!

RELATABLE.

DEEP.

OR IN FANCY SPEAK: MULTIFACETED.

REQUIRES EFFORT.

OFTEN REQUIRES A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.

TO HIDE AND REVEAL.

NOW THIS IS WHERE IT GETS REALLY INTERESTING...

Mark 4:10
"When he was alone , the Twelve and the others around him asked him about the parables. He told them, "The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables so that,

'they may be ever seeing but never perceiving,
and ever hearing but never understanding' (Isaiah 6:9)

otherwise they might turn and be forgiven! "
