Intro to Buddhism

  • Buddhism is a religion based off the the teachings of Siddhartha Gotama(Buddha).
  • Different traditions and ceramonies are involved with the religion.
  • The Four Noble truths are the basis of the religion and are what Buddhists strive to understand.

Basics Of Native American Religion

  • There are many branches and forms of religion for Native Americans.
  • Most focus on the spirits of plants and animals, but also on the spirits within humans.

Buddhist parables are used to teach its followers how to learn, listen and focus on the task at hand. They also how to love and forgive

In Contrast, native American parables teach about control within oneself and how to be one with nature.

Literary Devices

  • Native American Parables use personification when referring to nature
  • Irony plays a large role throughout many Buddhist parables.

Both types of parables use allegory in their stories. Their often times where the stories hold a greater meaning than what lies on the surface.
