PARAGRAPH=BOOK

  • A book has layers just like a paragraph. There are important parts of a paragraph and a book and the different parts relate to one another.

TOPIC SENTENCE= BEGINNING

  • Without the beginning the story doesn't exist (no topic sentence, no argument). You have to have a reason for your opinion.

CLINCHER SENTENCE= ENDING

  • The Clincher sentence wraps/finishes the book (argument) You need a good ending for your argument that sums up the story.

POINTS= CONFLICT

  • The conflict is the problem. It sets the plot in motion much like how the points set your argument in motion.

PROOFS= CHARACTERS

  • Proofs are like characters because the proofs have to be well devolved and convincing and so do characters! Good characters are well- rounded : they learn, change, and grow. Just like how when reading your proofs the persons opinions might change.

TRANSITIONS=PLOT

  • Transitions are like the plot in a story. The plot is a chain of events that happen in the story. Transitions move from one point to the next. (One event to the next event)

COMMENTARY:

  • A paragraph is like a book because lots of the parts in a book are in a paragraph. They are in the story and paragraph for similar reasons. And the parts add to the story/paragraph.
