  • They need 9.25 hours of sleep
  • They don't differentiate we'll between emotions
  • Executive function skills suffer
  • They try on new personalities
  • Their physical being sometimes is in control

  • They need less academic pressure even when they struggle
  • They need practice with emotional support not logistical support
  • They need to fail in service of learning
  • They need time to develop

Parent Transition

  • Give students more academic space, however, trust your gut
  • Stay involved with the opportunities that exist for parents.  
  • Use your child's advisor as a sounding board
  • Allow your children to learn through failure
  • Put your child in the driver's seat
