CORE

  • Made up of thick, heavy gasses
  • Temperature can reach 15,000,000 degrees celsius
  • Nuclear reactions in the core produce all of the suns energy
  • Heat and light move out and enter the next layer of the sun

RADIATION ZONE

  • The gasses are much cooler than those in the core
  • Still a very hot area
  • Made up of large cells of rising and sinking gasses

SUNS SURFACE

  • Temperature can reach 4600 degrees celsuis
  • Made up of cells of circulating gasses called granulos

SUN SPOTS

  • Sun spots are dark regions on the suns surface
  • Typically the size of earth
  • They come and go with a about 2 year cycle
  • Are 7,800 degrees

SOLAR FLARES

  • Burst out thousands of miles into space
  • When they burst out, they are temporarily as hot as the core

ATMOSPHERE

  • Lower layer is called chromosohere
  • Chromosphere is rose colored and expands 2,000 km into space
  • Outer layer is called coronn
  • Coronn extends millions of km into space

PREDICTED FUTURE

  • The sun will eventually consume its core
  • Inner planets will be consumed
  • Hot winds will blast outer planets
  • The sun will then consume itself
