"The purpose of the PASO training program is to create an equitable, replicable, community based model program for providing professional development in early childhood education to Latino, Family, Friend and Neighbor providers to: promote school readiness to Latino children, birth to 5 years old, and to prevent the achievement gap between Latino and non-Latino children before they enter Kindergarten."- http://coparentcoalition.org/paso/

PASO consists of 120 intense hours. The PASO training is accomplished through the presentation of 30 separate 4-hour classes by the Program Trainers over 12 months. This training is supplemented by visits twice a month trainers to the homes of the caregivers. The cost of this program is approximately $1500.

The community looks at this program as a fresh start and a way to help raise a community with better morals and values by starting at the youngest age possible, according to the United Way of Weld County.

I believe that PASO is a great way to have families involved in their children's development and learning processes. It is great that there are programs out there targeted at specific cultures to help them get past the gap in society.
