WHAT IS DEPRESSION?

  • intense feelings of sadness or worthlessness so bad that you end up losing interest in life
  • depression never affects two people the same way
  • it is not an attitude that someone has the ability to "control" or "snap out of"
  • severe and typically prolonged feelings of despondency and dejection
  • teen depression isn't a weakness or something that you can overcome just by using their will power
Depression is a mental disability although somme people would like to argue that it is only a mental weakness as apposed to a serious problem

  • Depression is a mental illness although some people would like to argue that it is only a weakness not a serious condition
  • Depression is a real mood disorder with many different emotional, physical, behavioural and cognitive symptoms
  • Depression is a disorder affecting every 1 in 10 Canadians at some point in their lives
  • Depression is one of the leading causes of disability in the worl
  • Depression is also known as major depression, clinical depression, and major depressive disorder
