- Born: March 26, 1913 in Budapest, Hungary
- Died: September 20, 1996 in Warsaw, Poland (age 83)
- Paul's father and mother, Lajos and Anna, had two daughters, who died before Paul was born.
- He was introduced to mathematics by his parents, who were both math teachers.
EDUCATION
- Home schooled until 10
- age 17, Erdős entered the Péter Pázmány University in Budapest, in four years he completed his undergraduate work and earned a Ph.D. in mathematics
- four-year postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Manchester in England.
- emigrated to the United States, accepting a one-year appointment at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey.
