3 Imperatives for Job Satisfaction.

I.Paul's Second Job:

Acts 18:1-4

The advantage of bi-vocational ministry is the clientele:

Who do you have
an advantage of
ministering to?

II.Paul "Occupied" with the Word:

Acts 18:5-8

“In the sight of the missionaries those who rejected the gospel were
no better than Gentiles,
cut off from the true
people of God.”
-Howard

“"Son of man, speak to your people and say to them, If I bring the sword upon a land, and the people of the land take a man from among them, and make him their watchman, and if he sees the sword coming upon the land and blows the trumpet and warns the people,..

...then if anyone who hears the sound of the trumpet does not take warning, and the sword comes and takes him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. He heard the sound of the trumpet and did not take warning; his blood shall be upon himself. But if he had taken warning, he would have saved his life.”
Ezekiel 33:2-5

Who are you called to be a watchmen for?

What people do you find yourself amongst that need to hear the word of God?

III.3 Imperatives of Job Satisfaction:

Acts 18:9-11

“And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified...

And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.”
1 Corinthians 2:1-5

“You know the number of hairs on his head, Master, and in you there’s no subtraction from that number; but it’s easier to count his hairs than his moods or the workings of his heart.”
-Augustine

III.3 Imperatives of Job Satisfaction:

III.3 Imperatives of Job Satisfaction:

  • "Do not be afraid"

“For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!"”
Romans 8:15

Paul needs to know this in order to be satisfied in his work so that he would continue to strive hard for more success eternally but he would need to see the success less.

Paul would need success less because he would find eternal success already in being a child of God apart from the comparisons of others.

You need to know this in order to be satisfied in your work so that you would continue to strive hard for more success eternally but you would need to see the success less.

That you would need success less because you would find eternal success already in being a child of God apart from the comparisons of others.

III.3 Imperatives of Job Satisfaction:

  • "Do not be afraid"
  • "Speak/Proclaim"

Many of us don't want to think that we are a testimony or proclamation of the gospel of grace...
but we are.

What is its accuracy to the gospel of grace?

How much more satisfying would you find your job if you were having these types of meaningful moments with others of testifying to the person and work of Jesus?

III.3 Imperatives of Job Satisfaction:

  • "Do not be afraid"
  • "Speak/Proclaim"
  • "Do not be Silent"

What if this here was the moment Paul "calmed down" from proclaiming the gospel?

The intensity you once proclaimed Christ in those moments needs to be reawakened from the calm state they are in today.

III.3 Imperatives of Job Satisfaction:

  • "Do not be afraid"
  • "Speak/Proclaim"
  • "Do not be Silent"

For Elijah, for Paul, and for us there is a need to know that you are not alone. We need to know and be reminded that God is at work when you do not see it and God is at work when you are not.

“God has sovereignly placed all His children, in every age, right where he wants them to be.”
-Mohler Jr.

“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
1 Timothy 1:6-7
