Monumental architecture -refers to large man-made structures of stone(public-nature). Created to commemorate a person or important events. People assume to have been built by means of the collective labor of many people.Ex:large buildings such as temples, palaces, and pyramids.
MOST MEMORABLE The colosseum in Rome is the largest and most famous monument in the roman world. The construction started by emperor Vespasian in 72 A.D. Later his son Titus finished it in 80 A.D. The completion was celebrated with 100 days games. The colosseum was capable of holding 50,000 spectators who would enter the building through no less then 80 entrances.
The roman and medieval similarities in architecture are arched columns, groin vaults, and tympanums. The Romans used concrete as a main build and faced walls with bricks. While in the medieval period the building were constructed differently they used stone blocks. They also develop the "gothic" arch with it's pointed top.
