HISTORY
- Penicillin cured deadly infections so that WWII soldiers were able to return home.
- Penicillins are useful against infections in many parts of the body including the mouth and throat, skin and soft tissue, tonsils, heart, lungs and ears.
TODAY
- To help fight off a bacterial infection
- To prevent infection for someone with a weakened immune system due to existing illness/condition
- To give someone's immune system help if they are undergoing treatment which could leave them vulnerable

- Before penicillin a simple scratch that became infected could become deadly.
- Penicillin was discovered by mold.
