Founder
Samuel de Champlain been in Pennsylvania in 1608. Sweden and the Netherlands also made claims on the land, but the England won the land. In 1681 the English gave the land to William Penn
Reasons for being founded
~ William Penn wanted to set up a colony where all people were allowed to worship any way they chose
~ Penn made Pennsylvania a haven for people suffering from religious persecution

CLIMATE AND GEOGRAPHY
- This colony was covered in rolling hills, trees, amd fertile soil
- Hot and humid weather in the summer and winter
- Snow in the winter
ECONOMY
- Most colonists were farmers
- Many merchants and tradesman
- Some colonists were in lumber business
RELIGION
- Pennysylvania had a strong tradition of religious tolerance
- William Penn named the capital of pennysylvania the city of brotherly love
Politics and government
~ Pennsylvania offered political freedom and self government
~ Free men in the government elected 200 representatives each year
~ Those men voted on laws that were proposed by the Provincial Government
