Periodic functions

by: Romyrl Mestiola

Central Angle

-Angle that forms when two radii meet at the center of a circle.

Intercepted Arc

- The arc that is formed when segments intersect portions of a circle.

Sine wave

- The graph of a sine fuction.

Cosine wave

-A signal waveform in which each point on the wave occurs exactly 1/4 cycle earlier than those in the sine wave.

Radian

-Measure of a central angle of a circle that intercepts an arc equal in length to a radius of the circle.

Amplitude

- Half the difference between the maximum and minimum values of the function.

Period

-The horizontal length of one cycle of a periodic function. Period = 2 (pi)/b.

Co-terminal Angles (Initial and Terminal Side)

-Angles in standard position (angles with the initial side on the positive x-axis) that have a common terminal side.

Phase shift

- A horizontal translation of a periodic function.
