PRESENTATION OUTLINE
1.
Dimitri Mendeleev
HE WAS THE FIRST TO START ARRANGING ELEMENTS
2.
MORE INFO
The elements were first arranged by atomic mass
The scientists predicted more elements and left spaces for them.
It was created so people could make sense of over 100 elements.

GROUP 1
THE ALKALINE METALS
All of the metal are reactive with water
They get more reactive as they go down the group.
They are all soft and can be cut by a knife
5.
MORE ON GROUP 1
The metals are all reactive to water
When they touch the water they create hydrogen gas.
They are all soft
They all become very hot
They all have low melting and boiling points.
All have one electron in their outer shell.
6.
GROUP 7
THE HALOGENS
7.
MORE ON GROUP 7
All have very low melting and boiling points.
The higher up in the group you go, the more reactive the elements get.
They become darker as they go down the group
8.
GROUP 0/8
THE NOBLE GASSES
9.
MORE GROUP 8
Is the furthest element to the right
All very low in density
Low melting points which is usual for gasses
They are all unreactive
They have 8 electrons on their outer energy level
10.
I think that the periodic table is a very useful way to make sense of lots of elements and is a good way to predict other elements that might be out there that we haven't found yet.
