Foundation

Family/Belonging             Self Worth
FOUNDATION:

Family/Belonging
- Wonder/Curiosity
- Care/Nurture

Self-Worth
- Patience/Endurance
- Rights/Respect

*These values are highly reflective of my own foundation and the foundation we strive to build for our own children.

FOCUS

Self-Actualization      Service/Vocation
FOCUS:

Self-Actualization
- Search/Meaning/Hope
- Communication/Information

Service/Vocation
- Flexibility/Adaptability
- Empathy

*Certainly reflective of the work I have been drawn to in the past 8 years or so and as I evolve in my values track.
These are the reason I am in the MES program and have taken a new position at Olds College.

Vision Values:

WORD & HUMAN DIGNITY
Hall-Tonna values inventory revealed a Focus in Phase 3 - Vocation with Vision values in Phase 3/4. The goal values resonating most predominantly are:

- Word (direct communication from leadership that empowers and inspires others to wider vision at a global impact level)

- Human Dignity (consciousness of the basic right of all human beings to have respect and tot have basic needs met so that each person has the opportunity to develop to full potential).

Supporting Means Values:

  • Synergy
  • Accountability/Ethics
Current context:
- work at OC with faculty who believe in their program but always want it to be better.

AHT - goal of recreating a program, but have deep personal and professional barriers.

I have been working with this group to re-establish collaborative environment
- group norms
- appreciate our strengths/limitations
- work towards these strengths
- always put students (others) first

Skill Development

How will I increase my skills to move toward the Vision goals of WORD and HUMAN DIGNITY?

I will:
- rely on my INTERPERSONAL SKILLS (ability to perceive self and others accurately, in ways that facilitate communication, mutual understanding and cooperation)

-while building my IMAGINAL SKILLS (to combine images and ideas in new ways, to see alternatives, to change conventional ways of doing things and to remedy deficiencies).

Communicate to others, through objective assessment and positive feedback, another person’s level of ethical maturity.

I will rely on the means value of Sharing/Listening/Trust through one-on-one cognitive coaching conversations..

Ensuring my clients have time and space to feel safe, conversations begin with what is working well in their world. This often reveals frustrations which then lead to goals-setting.

- I need to develop my vocabulary/language to be able to clearly communicate a client's current maturation states and how to evolve their ethical maturity.

Recognize and use my ability to enrich others by addressing their conduct in relationship to their value system

This image represents my role as a reflective surface for my clients. I am there to listen to truly understand their context and ethical maturity.

Once I feel I have a grounding in what their personal values are, I can maneuver through coaching questions to move them further along in their goals.

I need to ensure I am non-judgmental and read their non-verbal communication accurately.

Enable a group, using group dynamics, community building and strategic planning techniques to maximize its creative and collaborative purposes.

I am very comfortable speaking to groups feel I am an engaging speaker because I am so very passionate about what I do.

Now, my challenge is to ignite that energy, or synergy, in others.
- I will collect strategies for collaborative planning and group engagement and practice these strategies with instructors working on program development.
I already have a mentor in place to assist me with this process and resources gathered to support this work.

Thank you

"The world is a creative project in which I want to participate." (Hall-Tonna, 2004)
This is the question I hope we all ask ourselves on a regular basis.

This journey is providing a clear path for me, I hope it has done the same for you as well.
