- A figure of speech in which an inanimate object or abstract concept is endowed with human attributes.
- Basically a non human object with human characteristics

- The water rushed its way downstream.
- The wind howled as the night passed.
- The tide dragged the man back into the ocean with extreme force.
- The scarecrow stared creepily at the young boy.
