Persuasive Speech-Scary Stories

No Description

PRESENTATION OUTLINE

My claim:
Children should be aloud to read Scary Stories

Reasons:
1.) it teaches them serious issues in life.
2.) helps them to be more cautious.
3.) helps them deal with their own fears.

1.) it teaches them serious issues in life.

"A type of literature that your child may find frightening is the story that takes on serious issues such as divorce, death, and family violence, while the spine-tingling tales around the campfire are mostly to entertain, these stories help children be more prepared for the world."

2.) helps them be more cautious

"You should be a little more hesitant sometimes, his stories were saying you should think twice before you go into the woods, there just might be a hairy man and you need to be more cautious."
-Scary Stories

3.) helps them deal with their own fears.

"Scary Stories, like nightmares, are a sort of dress rehearsal for real-life fear, helping kids learn to cope with the emotion in a low stakes setting. "How can you feel safe and secure until you know what it's like to be afraid?." Psychologist Emma Kenny told the guardian. "The world can be a scary place-children will get into situations where they're told off by teachers, or have a fallout with friends. Knowing how to confront fear is a good thing."
