Peruvian Houses

• Most of the common houses are known as adobe houses. These are sun dried mud bricks that way less then 100 pounds and can easily be stacked and take very little resources and time to make making it very obtainable to the common man. Roofs are often flat which does requires less timber framing.

Elegant Houses in Peru

• More elegant houses in Peru have a stucco exterior, a clay-tile roof, exposed beams, wrought-iron details and repeated arches round an entry walkway, which are all influence of traditional Spanish architecture . Front doors are of heavy carved wood and porches sometimes feature spiral columns. Walls and floors are often covered with pattern tiles. The floor plan may also include an enclosed court yard.

• In rural areas, many schools in Peru are single buildings that house all grade levels. Rarely are school separated by elementary, middle school and high school, as typical in the US. Only in larger cites are school separated in different buildings by grade level.

• Most schools in Peru along with other Spanish influenced countries have a low celling with concrete walls. Stucco is mainly used on the exterior of the school to add ornamentation. There plumbing is usually smaller to carry less water because of there low access to water. Modern buildings have HVAC and electrical supply on the roof since the majority of Peruvian commercial structors are built on slab foundations.

• Most buildings have flat roofs in order to make air-conditioning and other utilities cheaper, for example the air-conditions can sit on the roof and there is less space needed meaning less materials used to build basements and crawl spaces.

• Lima, the capital of Peru, is home to oldest continuously functioning learning institutes in the Americas. The National University o San Marcos was founded in 1551. Along with this the town and most other towns include a town center and other recreational buildings available to the public.
